A Bit About Me!

My name is Naila Baig Ansari. I was born in bustling city of Karachi, Pakistan on the 10th of Muharram, 1385 (10/1/1385)....If you really want to know how long ago that was just check it out here! While growing up, I have lived in several countries and had the privilege of meeting some really special people. Unfortunately, I've lost touch with most of them especially those from my earlier years and am hoping that some of them might stumble across this page and get in touch with me!!

I am married to a cool guy, Raza Ansari, who works for a Pakistani-Japanese joint venture company assembling Toyota cars in Pakistan. We have two terrific daughters Zara and Zoha .

I'm presently in my 2nd year as a PhD student at the University of California, Davis. I'm in the PhD Epidemiology program with my area of emphasis as International Nutrition. Previous to starting my PhD, I was working at the Aga Khan University's as a Research Fellow and prior to that I worked for Pakistan International Airlines PIA . And if that wasn't enough, I've also been publishing a peer-reviewed journal called Infectious Diseases Journal of Pakistan (IDJ).

Personal Interests

Scuba Diving: My latest craze is scuba diving. I absolutely adore it and received my PADI certification in November 1996. So far I have only dived off the coast of Karachi, where the diving season starts around November and lasts through March. I completed my PADI advanced course in 1998.; My first night dive was awesome. Not in the least bit scary, the fish were actually coming up to us out of curiousity. I'm in the process of developing a website for the Scuba Addicts of Karachi...ideas are welcome! Two scuba sites you may want to check out: NAUI, PADI
Parenting: As a mother of two lovely daughters, Zara age 14 and Zoha age 12, I can't help but be interested in the topic of Parenting. I have come across several sites regarding Parenting but now my favourite magazine, Parents, which I have been subscribing to since Zara was a baby has its own website: Parents.com Check it out...its very helpful!
